Today is release day of the OHM August collection. A release with only glass, but what a special ones!
OHM celebrates it’s anniversary in August and this year it’s Sweet 16! A big celebration will tale place in Bangkok Thailand on the weekend of the 10th and to celebrate OHM released a special artists collection. Containing six special designed glass beads based on artwork made by Thai artists.
A very sad message reached the OHMverse that one of it’s most talented lampwork artists has passed away recently. Matt worked on the artist collection and sadly could not finish the entire collection. So there are lesser quantities of each bead then was anticipated. OHM shared a heartfelt tribute about Matt on the OHM website:
Because this is a glass only release this month I set myself the challenge to make glass only designs! A true challenge and I hope you like what I came up with!
I have been mesmerized by OHM’s glass from the beginning. When they started to make their signature barrel glass beads I couldn’t stop looking at how it was made! There are the opaque glass beads where the colour sits on top of the glass and there are the transparent glass beads where the colour seems to be wrapped around the base. From the side you can see no colour, but turned sideways the colour splashes through the glass which makes it more alive and surprising! The barrel shape lets the colours bounce around and it looks like it is totally filled with colour! It gives the colour more depth! Absolutely beautiful!

The Leopard That Shines Like A Gem is a beautiful multicoloured large square glass bead. The same size as Ice Cube and Icetea Cube.
I made a video to see some life colours.
I tried to pick out all the colours in The Leopard That Shines Like A Gem and make a bracelet to accentuate this marvelous glass and let it shine and stand out! A Chunky bracelet with OHM WHO clasp and Candy Cloud, Stroke By Stroke, Breath By Breath, The Leopard That Shines Like A Gem, Knight Leopard, Side By Side and Blueberry.
This is Side By Side, a delicious orange, fresh yet deep blue and off-white colour wrapped around the core.
And Stroke By Stroke, a matching blue and white with a smudge of pale green!
Those colours are a match made in heaven and that is just what I made, an endless summer sky! A Chunky bracelet with Dragonfly-y clasp and Stream, Side By Side, Sky Fall, Stroke By Stroke and Imagine.
Green and blue! OHM did some gorgeous glass in these colours just these last months! And they look stunning together! A Chunky bracelet with Dragonfly-y clasp and Ocean Path, Travel Abroad, Stroke By Stroke, Sky Network, Side By Side, Swim Back and Forest Dive.
I couldn’t resist recreating my lanyard! OHM released them last winter and I turned mine into a bracelet. With last and this month’s release came the glass beads that are on my lanyard so I just had to make this bracelet! If that are second choice glass beads I do not see why! A Chunky bracelet with Octopus-y clasp and Coastal Cretan, Stroke By Stroke and Blue Lagoon.
And now for the orange glass! First up is Bar By Bar, an orange base with cream spots and glittery specks.
Here is Drip By Drip, an orange base with cream streaks.
And this is Bump By Bump, half orange half cream around the base.
Next is Dive By Dive, another orange base wrapped around the base with bubbles and sparkling specks.
And last but not least Breath By Breath, yet another orange wrapped around the base with a row of bubbles running around the glass.
I know orange is one specific OHM HQ person’s favourite colour! Mine is this combination, red yellow orange. And don’t debate me on Inner Self 2.0, I know it has silver but I chose it for this colour collection! Here are two Chucky bracelets, Octopus-y and Dragonfly-y clasps and the five mention before orange glass beads and Strawberry, Breath Of Sun, Inner Self 2.0, Breeze Past and Lemon.
This is a beautiful and heartbreaking release! A special collection to celebrate, cherish and remember. I hope I did them proud. Happy Sweet 16 OHM.
