Today we look at the OHM May release! Some very beautiful designs! Release date is May 1st, unless otherwise stated.

Starting with Bead of the Month May 2019. What a beauty, a limited edition release, only 555 are made. There are multiple variations of embedded glass. Each bead is serialized and engraved with an individual code and is sealed in a box. A mini certificate of authenticity with the number in the series will be included.

One’s inner self is only partially exposed to the light of the sun. Sometimes it feels like we are showing ourselves fully, but that is not true. So much remains hidden, and usually by choice. Our choice.

This adorable character is called Sun Wukong, also known as The Monkey King and The Victorious Fighting Buddha. He is one of the most popular characters in Chinese legend, from the 16th century until now. The Monkey King was born from mountain stone and he possesses supernatural power. Each of his hairs has magical properties and can transform into clones of the Monkey King himself or into other animals or objects.

Sun Wukong with his immense strength can carry a giant staff weighing eight tons, and this special staff can change size or multiply as needed to fight in any method its master chooses. When not wielding this weapon, Sun Wukong shrinks it down to the size of a sewing needle and tucks it behind his ear.

Extremely fast, Sun Wukong can leap thirteen thousand miles in a single somersault. He has defeated the dragons of the four seas and won for himself a golden chain mail shirt, a golden circlet crown containing Phoenix feathers, and cloud-walking boots!

Labeled as a demon. He defeated the Army of Heaven’s 100,000 celestial warriors and proved himself equal to the best of Heaven’s generals. Sun Wukong ate the Peaches of Immortality, drank the Jade Emperor’s wine, and set all of the Cloud Horses free.

The Jade Emperor and the authorities of Heaven appealed to the Buddha and they imprisoned Sun Wukong for five hundred years. Once agreeing to protect a monk, Tan Sanzang, on his pilgrimage, Sun Wukong is freed. During this long journey, he learns about virtues and the teachings of the Buddha. He is granted Buddhahood and becomes the “Victorious Fighting Buddha”.

So, you see? Even a supernatural demon monkey can become a superhero and a defender of good. Up, up, and away! It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no…

The next one I really love is called Soak! Bath (noun) – a place to wash away worries.

Often times we forget to take moments for ourselves to collect our thoughts and ease our stresses. Water cleanses the soul and bubbles bring you smiles.

There is magic happening when you sink into a tub of bubbles. There may be no better way to find immediate calm and serenity. Shall you bring a glass of wine in with you, risk wetting a few pages from your favorite book, or turn on relaxing music? Maybe all of the above. There is no wrong way to bubble bath. The only wrong choice to make is not allowing yourself the time to sink into the tub and fully relax

The joys of a bath go back to childhood – it begins with the comfort of a mother washing a cooing new baby. Then to a toddler spending hours in self play with their bath toys. At some age we lose the joy and importance of bath time, but if we’re lucky, we find a big bottle of bubble bath and remember the magic.

Tomte Gnome is so adorable!! The Tomte (in Swedish) or Nisse (in Danish) is one of the most popular creatures in Scandinavian folklore. According to tradition, the Tomte Gnome lives in the houses and barns of a farm, and secretly acts as its guardian. If treated well by the family — it is customary to leave out a bowl of porridge with butter, especially at Christmas — then the Tomte Gnome will protect the farm and its animals. He may even magically help with the chores. #wecanonlyhope But, if offended by the farmer, the Gnome will play mean tricks, make items disappear, or bring misfortune. Despite his small size, the Tomte possesses enormous strength, can make himself invisible, and sometimes he bites. So, be kind and kindness will find you.

To go beautifully with Soak is Angel Rubber Duckie! Not every rubber duckie is cute and squeaky. Like their human owners, each rubber duckie has its own personality and motivations. Some duckies are mischievous, sneaky, naughty, or even, well, a little evil. Yet, other rubber duckies are cuddly, funny, affectionate, loyal, or just pure joy and goodness.

Perhaps you have a pair of rubber duckies perched on on your wet, soapy, bare shoulders. Each whispering in one of your ears, urging you to be wicked or angelic. Who knew your bath companions were so complex?

Henri the Hedgehog is from beautiful Chinon, France. A bristly little critter looking like a walking hedge with a pig’s snout. Easily recognized covered in spines, which are actually hollow hairs made stiff with keratin. His spines are not poisonous or barbed nor do they detach from the body like a porcupine; however, baby Henri the Hedgehog did shed his spines to grow adult ones which is called “quilling.”

Henri is also a fairly vocal creature and communicates with his brethren through grunts, snuffles and squeals (rather like a hog again). Hedgehogs are primarily nocturnal and they enjoy sleeping for a large portion of the day under bushes, rocks, or in dens they have dug in the ground. Henri likes to hibernate through the winter. Sound familiar?

This fun designed glass is called Spiked. There are seventeen species of hedgehog across Europe, Asia, Africa, and there are no hedgehogs native to Australia or the Americas. They have to worry about predatory birds, especially owls, who like them for lunch! Though, hedgehogs are mostly immune to snake venom. 

In the wild, hedgehogs are omnivorous and enjoy munching on berries, snails, melons, mushrooms, insects, bird eggs, snakes, frogs, and toads. The hedgehog’s protective tendency to curl into a ball of spines that impressed the ancient Greek philosopher, Archilochos. He famously remarked, “The fox knows many tricks; the hedgehog, one good one.

Another new colour leather Whip Bracelet: Navy! The OHM WHIP BRACELET is leather and approximately 66 cm (26 in) long. It can be worn as a necklace or multi-wrap bracelet. The end can be looped through the silver hook or you can add a clasp or openwork bead to create a closure.

A special release on April 16, today! ROYALTY is a limited edition design, only 222 are made exclusive to the European retailer Exclusive Bead Store. In celebration of William & Kate’s wedding anniversary on April 29th and the wedding of Harry & Meghan on May 19th. Purple is the symbol of royalty due to its rarity. Only 222 of these beads have been made and each bead includes a certificate of authenticity matching the serialization engraving on the bead itself.

On Ohmbeads.com on May 10 Lake Hillier is released. One of Australia’s most interesting natural wonder is Lake Hillier. A bright pink lake on an island off the coast of Western Australia. It is a saline lake, symbolized here with the salt crystals in this glass design. Limited to 333 pieces and exclusive to OHM in Australia each bead comes engraved with the serial number and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.

On May 25 Perlen Odense in Denmark is hosting an OHM Spring event in store and online!

And don’t forget Red Moscow! Red Moscow is launching on April 19 at 8pm Moscow time. This was previewed last month and will be launching at OHMTogether.com in partnership with the Russian team at OHMworld.ru.
