Carry your undead friend with you now and forever into the afterlife. HAPPY GRAVE is a concept born of Justin Aerni. An American painter, sculptor, author, photographer, and filmmaker, Justin Aerni has garnered global attention for his thought-provoking artwork that combines satire and iconoclasm while examining the great enigmas of our time. Based in the Pacific Northwest, he is as popular as he is prolific selling over 4,000 paintings worldwide within the past decade and has published ten books to date. You can find him at @fun_eral on Instagram.

“I first created the character HAPPY GRAVE originally as a way to cope with my own overwhelming fear of dying and the possibility of not existing anymore.

One rainy day in Detroit, I was walking through a fancy old graveyard taking pictures, and as I happened to glance over at a distinctly smashed up grave where all the old writing had been chipped off. In the decay, I saw what looked like a smiling face! A chill came over me. Needless to say, I was horrified … yet delighted; inspiration instantly clicked in my mind, and HAPPY GRAVE was conceived! There have been many iterations on canvas and now cast into silver in 3 dimensions.

I hope that whoever wears my haunted little HAPPY GRAVE official OHM bead will find humor and peace instead of fear and anxiety about this sensitive subject that we all must inevitability face.” – Justin Aerni

Happy Grave is flanked by two dirty OHM My God, a lovely combination. I added Love Hurts as well. With two Nightsky and two facet glass beads.

Is the afterlife heaven or hell? Flames are so symbolic, is it the end or new beginnings? That’s why I feel Rebirth is so beautiful to combine with Happy Grave! I also added the two Sacred Heart beads to this bangle. And Archangel Mikael is there to guide me! With two Fire Ball and two July spinners.

Happy Grave with some lovely body parts! We eventually come apart into our distinctive parts! Love Cage, Rotten Heart and Reason and Feeling and glass Cheesy and two randohms.

Inspired by Mardi Gras which made me think of the band that accompanies a funeral in New Orleans I combined Happy Grave with some music beads to celebrate life when it’s finally time to be laid to rest in Mama Terra. And with a retired music bead, Peace Guitar and Pick Peace and the glass with gold flecks, Sky Guild, Celebrate and Dark Soul.

And I hope when it’s time for me to rest it will be in a beautiful woodland garden surrounded by nature! Whip leather bracelet with OHM WHO clasp and Love Grows, Butterflies and the glass Leaf Life and Spring Refractions.

Happy Grave is also perfect for a Haloween bracelet!

It is very scary to think of that end. Fear of dying is what keeps us alive in the first place. But we cannot alter the inevitable, so looking at it with a bit of humor and laughter could help to ease this fear. And OHM has proven they are more than happy to help you with that!

Disclosure: for this blog I may receive some items as promotional samples.
