Today we take a look at the OHM release for June! Release is on May 30, unless otherwise stated.
Starting of with Bead of the Month no. 49 MENDED HEART! Only 555 beads are made!
Dad loves to fix things. He knows exactly how to repair a broken bicycle, chair, window, or appliance. He keeps a handy supply of duct tape, nails, bolts, screws, rivets, clamps, paint, glue, and more duct tape. Dad takes pride in his workshop, and in his collection of power tools. He has saws for every occasion, a cordless drill with bits of every conceivable size, and, of course, his tractor with every attachment invented. Dad has electrical tools, gardening tools, landscaping tools, and tools for tearing apart the kitchen sink.
That’s why Dad has spent so much time mending his heart for Father’s Day. He loves to share it, but needs to be sure it will stay intact. No, it’s not made of chocolate, it’s metal! And it’s sorta patched together the way a lot of Dad’s fix-it projects turn out. Dad does his best to make us feel safe and protected. We know that under all that tough guy metal, Dad is really just a big softy with a generous, gentle heart who really wants a hug.
We love you, Dad. Happy Father’s Day.
Another OHMgnome couple! GNOME CHAN and GNOME KUN!
OHM Gnomes live in many different countries with different cultures, just like humans. One thing that Gnomes all over the world have in common is their red pointy hats. This OHM Gnome couple is from Japan.
Our OHM Gnomes are wearing the best known traditional fashion in Japan: the kimono (which literally translates as “something to wear”). Japanese kimonos are wrapped around the body, often in many layers, secured in place with sashes, ties, and a wide cloth belt called an “obi”. There are kimono schools specifically built to teach all these multiple steps and layers of wearing the kimono properly. Originally, kimonos were made of hemp or linen. Today, silk is considered the ideal fabric for a kimono.
GNOME CHAN – In feudal Japan, women of higher social status covered their bodies from collarbone to feet, with long sleeves to hide even their fingertips. Today, kimonos are worn for weddings, tea ceremonies, New Years, and graduation celebrations, as well as “coming of age” ceremonies for young ladies.
The suffix “Chan” is the more personal and affectionate form of the Japanese term of respect “San”. Chan is used for a close female friend, family member, or even a lover, especially if they are cute or lovable. GNOME CHAN is certainly cute and lovable. She is wearing a beautiful silk kimono decorated with plum blossoms called “ume”. These blossoms symbolize elegance and loyalty and they bloom in Spring, just before the cherry blossoms. She has woven these delicate flowers into her hair as well.
GNOME CHAN is kneeling in the Japanese posture of respect called “seiza” (kneeling on the floor with legs folded underneath). Her “obi” sash is tied into an elaborate series of folds in back. The Japanese say there are five hundred ways to tie an obi and often a beautiful obi can cost more than the kimono itself.
OG KUN – Our handsome Gnome gentleman wears the male version of the silk kimono which includes a thigh-length jacket called the “haori”, which is worn open in front but held in place by a white cord that attaches to the lapels. He also wears a “hakama” over his kimono. which is a long, pleated skirt, sometimes designed with divided legs like trousers. OG KUN’s obi is much narrower than a woman’s, and is similar to the type worn by those who practice martial arts.
We could call him our gnome gentleman OG San with respect; but the more informal suffix for men and boys in Japan is “Kun” especially among friends of equal age and status. He’s our friend, so we’ll call him OG KUN. The Japanese and the OHM Gnomes are famous for their generous hospitality. Please remove your shoes and join them for a hot cup of tea.
This is such a fun design! GARGOYLE!
Legend says that gargoyles are guardians, made from magically animated stone. They come to life at night to fight battles from rooftops across the city, and throughout the silent streets. They fight against the forces of evil.
Gargoyles were added to the roofs of Egyptian temples and to Medieval cathedrals and castles — not only as decorative spouts to lift the rain water away from the walls — but also as supernatural protection against evil spirits.
Some people believe that gargoyles are monsters themselves, perched upon the edges of the rooftops waiting — waiting with the patience of stone — waiting until nightfall to leap down and prey upon the unwary humans in the shadows.
Others say that gargoyles can read the hearts of humans, and if your heart is good, honest, generous, and true, then the gargoyle is your guardian protector against the evils of this world and beyond. But if your heart is greedy and filled with wicked secrets, then beware! The gargoyle moves swiftly and silently behind you!

“The creative process is a process of surrender, not control.” – Julia Cameron
When we surrender we are taken to places we have not chosen on our own. We are taken to places that we never knew were possible.
Surrendering opens us up to new potential. When we surrender we can begin to see new possibilities within old perimeters. When we will find beauty in what “is” we free ourselves from the need to try and control our wild life.
“Surrender is surrender to this moment, not to a story through which you interpret this moment and then try to resign yourself to it.” – Eckhart Tolle
SURRENDER reminds us that sometimes our greatest strength is knowing when to let go – and then actually doing so. Sometimes the only way to change our circumstances is to release the illusions we are familiar with and allow the vast intelligence of the flow of life to work its magic on us. Surrender is not submitting and giving up, it is about releasing our ego and expectations to allow ourselves to be shown a bigger picture.
